Vision
The vision of the Krishnaites should be that of the spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada. He wanted his movement to be a house in which the whole world could live, a place of spiritual refuge from the inherent selfishness and exploitation of materialistic society, an environment of Krishna conscious association. TheKrishnaites.org website aspires to be one which serves these purposes, one of sadhu sanga where those interested in Krishna consciousness can get information about it and discuss the siddhanta, or philosophy, in order to form a clearer understanding.
“siddhanta baliya citte na kara alasa iha haite krsna lage sudrdha manasa [Adi 2.117]. A sincere student should not neglect the discussion of such conclusions, considering them controversial, for such discussions strengthen the mind. Thus one’s mind becomes attached to Sri Krsna. You should be always alert in understanding the sastric conclusions that will help you, otherwise we can be misled by bogus philosophies.” A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, letter to: Ayodhyapati, Vrindaban 22 September, 1976
After the physical departure of Srila Prabhupada in late 1977 a number of competing factions formed among his followers, some big, some small, each with some unique interpretation of his instructions. Logic would dictate that, at best, only one could be correct, but not necessarily. Serious devotees of Krishna do “not neglect the discussion of such conclusions” because they aspire to have the same convictions and realization as the spiritual master.
Krishna consciousness is the science of the absolute truth, God. When properly applied through a correct understanding of the spiritual master’s instructions, it will yield the same result – transcendence of the worldly mentality and realization of God, Krishna, and His spiritual world.
“This Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is specifically meant for educating people about the spirit soul. It is not a sectarian religion. It is a science. Don’t take it as a type of religion. It is a course of education which is understandable by the human society, not by the cats and dogs.” A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, lecture on Bhagavad-gita 4.10, Geneva, May 31, 1974
Real Krishnaites are welfare workers of the highest order because they aspire to give this understanding to all. As such, they aren’t interested in establishing themselves or their group as superior to others and engendering conflict with them – sectarianism. They may know they are fixed in truth, but they recognize how other’s qualifications contribute to different levels of understanding of it.
“Contradictions actually arise only due to asslike mentality. Swanlike persons consider the necessity for different practices according to one‘s qualification, so they are naturally detached from sectarian quarrels.” Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, Sri Krishna Samhita, introduction
The real Krishna consciousness movement that Srila Prabhupada propagated eternally exists and is present wherever devotees of Krishna neither add nor subtract from the instructions of the previous acaryas, as summarized by the last one, Srila Prabhupada. There may be any number of imitations with other mathematical totals, but those who partake of them will miss out on the complete result of applying the science as-it-is. The Krishnaite vision enables one to recognize the differences. The materials and dialogue available on this website are here to connect people with that vision and that eternally existing real Krishna consciousness movement.
